You sound like me beotchin' about no D-max in the burb (for years).

Shouldn't a powerjoke come with a chip? SHouldn't a CJ/YJ/TJ/JK come with D60's?

Yes, it's pretty pathetic that the 3.8 is the only engine offered. But it's no different than pre-rubicon when you had to swap in different axles, t-case, lockers, etc, etc costing as much or more than a supercharger.

The interweb is full of boards trashing the 3.8...but they continue to sell them like they are going out of style...big time backorder.

I'm not running out to buy a $25-30K rig to swap engines. I'd like the performance at LEAST on par with our 4.0L ZJ (I think it's moronic that I'm comparing "performance" with our tired old ZJ) and I don't feel that it is. Until it is, I'll buy/build stuff that will work for me. I really like the concept and it would seem that there would be a simple factory solution. I can't imagine I'm the only person not voting with my $$,$$$.$$

6.0L Powerjokes come with a "chip" (more aggressive programming than the 7.3L came with, anyway). I'd rather not have one, personally.

D60? -- eh, not really. We're the 2-3% of the users that MAY want to swap axles.

I believe the backorder is because of them actually making what we want to buy. I think they'd sell even better if they had an engine option. Hopefully Jeep can learn from the success of the Wrangler and apply it to the Commander (disappointment, IMHO), Grand Cherokee and Liberty.

Whoa there cowboy. Are you saying the new Wranglers don't have more power than a 4.0 ZJ????? The ultimate dog of recent era Jeeps?

I know JK owners that would debate that. I know when Brad picked his new JK up it was a dog. Around 1100 hundred miles on the break in he said there was a noticeable difference. I think he's satisfied with the power it has now, which is more than I can say for most 4.0 ZJ owners.

That's what I'm saying. It felt like a DOG, even more than the ZJ, and we've dealt with that for 135K, now. A drag race may prove otherwise, but that's how it felt. Tough to plink the $$,$$$.$$ down if it feels like that and the competition doesn't.

Having driven many single axle semi trucks like that one, I can tell you that it doesn't take much to get one stuck and that a tug from a Ford Pinto is usually enough to get you going again. The video is not impressive at all, and substituting any vehicle for the JK in the vid would fail to impress me further.

....Okay, maybe a mortorcycle would be impressive.:hickey:

The 3.8 doesn't feel nearly as sluggish in a 2dr with the 6speed. I can get up to freeway speeds just fine. I like it better than the 4.0 i had in my 98ZJ or the 318 i had in my 96ZJ.

Give me the 5.9 and then we're talkin.
