The other day I saw a guy getting pulled over near the Home Depot here, outside of Tooele. I was surprised to see that it was a South Salt Lake cop doing the pulling over.

So how's that work? Where does the ticket go? What kind of inter-jurisdictional guidelines are work in this situation???

Just curious.

Any utah police officer can give a ticket anywhere in utah.

The catch is if you fight it you go to the court in the county where the ticket was given so the officer is less likely to come to court to argue

I would guess that is the officer was pissed off enough to make a stop like that when he probably is not even "on the clock" that he will be pissed enough to make it to court too.

I think he might. He lives here... My guess is the guy had to be EGREGIOUSLY speeding to warrant that kind of response on the way home from work LOL

Sucks to be him.

Speed limit drops to 50 right there, and most do 70 on that road up until the stop light at the Hospital anyway, so I'd imagine he was cruisin' along at a pretty good clip. I've noticed more and more folks getting pulled over there lately.

He was in the 60mph part.... but yeah, I'm sure he wasn't doing the limit LOL

Tooele area cops are pretty lenient, in my experience. That includes city, sheriffs, and UHP....

Or he could have ran the plate on the way home coming across a stolen vehicle, warrants, or hey could have just been plain old speeding :p
