[superhijack]Were you running the #6 from SLC Tuesday morning? I thought I saw you in the dim cab light, but couldn't be sure as we passed the other direction at 400 S. [/superhijack]

RO78, local switcher in that area. We were waiting for you to leave the station so we could cross over the main to get to where we needed to leave a cut for the daylight people. You looked like a real pro--you must have 'em all fooled. :D

South of the new parking lot, west of the line. We'll have to do lunch more often now.

I remember seeing you guys. You called me on the radio and told me to highball the derail. (???) I flipped my interior light on and waved as I went by. Right?

Was that you talking to me?

Yep, that sounds right. Wasn't me on the radio....the crew I'm with this week are the type that want me to learn by watching them work, rather than actually doing anything.

I'd like to! I don't believe anybody actually gets regular lunch breaks though...at least I haven't on the jobs I've been riding along with.

For the BBQ bird...how did it turn out? We had regular baked turkey this year, but in years past the deep-fried method turns out REALLY good.

Don't let them old head you.

It's kind of nice though to sit back and watch them do all the work all the while you're getting paid for it. :D

What's a trip rate for a local switcher? I'm sure it's not bad scratch. Been out on the road yet?

The main problem right now with that overnight shift, is that I get cold when I'm standing around. I stay warm if I'm working.

Not too bad for a local switcher, the same as a yard switchman, but RCL carries a little bonus on top of it. The student rate is 25% lower though.

I've been on the road only a little, on another local run--out to Warner. (so no "real" road trips yet--that probably comes during my conductor student trips)
