Just moved my pyrometer

I just moved my pyrometer last night from post turbo to the exhaust manifold. The previous owned had it in the down pipe, but I knew pre was suppose to be a lot more accurate. It reads albout 200-250 degrees hotter there, so I feel a lot better knowing where the temps are at in the engine and that they are accurate.

So is that going to bring your candy assedness down to a level that will let you camp for the weekend in Moab?

So your manifold temp is about 200* higher than it is about 10" down into the downtube that led up to the turbo? (I ask because that's where mine is installed.)

I can make my temp hit about 950 on an on-ramp without towing. I have to watch it on longer pulls with a load on. The climb up to Thistle in Spanish Fork gets me a little hot (pushing 1200*) and then the climb from the rest area to Soldier Summit I just kick the cruise off and keep the temp about 1150*. I think I'm running about 65-68 mph there with the Jeep on the trailer.

Sounds like mine unloaded. I would be very cautious about the 1200 I bet it reading 14 in the engine then. I was always worried, but knew I was pretty safe, now I know. The best place is in the drivers side manifold right by the oil filter. You will need a 5/16 drill bit and a 1/8 npt tap. Took me about 35 minutes to move it and wiring. Were planning on going to price this weekend, so I will let you know what egt's I pull. I just put 4.56's in the rear, so we will see if that helps me out

keep an eye on that tranny temp too, stupid duty's cost about 4500.00 to fix after spanish fork canyon pulling the jeep on the trailer... pulling out from that rest stop can make everything go up in smoke. got a temp gauge now...

As far as i know all pyro's should be mounted pre turbo, and if you run a edge with attitude box you can set the egt's to what ever temp you want and it wont let you go past it!:D

I was about 1150 degrees. I did check my location of the pyro thing. It's about 1" away from the collector in the manifold. I thought it was in the downpipe but it's not quite. How far is yours into the manifold?

It's about the same right there near the oil filter.

I tinkered with my settings on my Edge Attitude on Saturday morning. HOLY SH!T!!! It pulls HARD right off idle now (not quite a Cummins, but pretty close) and has a HUGE midrange now. My mileage liar/overhead display is telling me 18.5 mpg (since I chipped it's been QUITE optimistic where it was within a few tenths at stock), but my odometer and fuel gauge almost back that up. Normally it's trying to deceive me into thinking I'm getting 15-16 mpg. I'm at half a tank with about 225 miles on it. I'm usually filling up at about 330 miles or so. I'll check the mileage since at this fill up.

I did bump my 'defuel' down to 1300 degrees. Edge sets it at 1350.
