Not so much a salvage title as a restored/rebuilt title, but it doesn't bother me either way. Still waiting for their estimator to call me back to come look at it.

The adjuster just called me and is coming at noon tomorrow, I brought up the question of aftermarket parts and he is familiar with how to value them due to our local market, so I have my fingers crossed!

From my understanding if a car gets totalled and you buy it back it doesnt change the status of the title. I have done it on a few cars and never ended up with a salvage title.

I have done that a few times as well, but I have always ended up with a branded title. I just got my Cruiser registered, and it went from a salvage title to a rebuilt/restored title - however the title was salvaged when I got it. I was the 2nd or so owner after the insurance company.

Well, I crawled under the Jeep to take a look around and the diff housing is cracked where the axle tube goes in on the driver's side, so the housing is toast but I'm hoping the ring and pinion are still good. And of course the Jeep has a tad more damage than I thought so I'm undecided on fixing it or starting over with another chassis.

I've dealt with a ZJ that had had the lower control arm mount ripped off, it was one that I purchased and fixed to sell, the unibody damage "fixed" before I bought it. It never did drive right, just that damage alone would keep me from fixing the current chassis. Hopefully you can get enough from the insurance to pick up a good chassis and swap your parts over.
