Just transplanted from Alaska to Utah

Hi All, I recently moved down to Provo/Orem area and basically the first thing I did was get myself another truck to start on. I just moved from Alaska. I had a 1985 Toyota pickup which had a custom lift on it built by my buddy Dan at his shop. It was a pretty mild truck compared to most up there, but it was a blast and i loved it. Once I got down here, I had to find a rig to replace it. So i purchased a 1987 Toyota Pickup SR5. It is in awesome shape. I just need to do a few things to get it to pass safety inspection here so i can drive it. Basically it comes down to the following:

1) I need Fender Flares, or some stock sized tires on rims to borrow for a day
2) bigger mud flaps (unless I can find someone who will let me borrow their tires for a day.
3) I need to get my windshield washers working
4) I need to get my high beams working

If anyone in the Provo or Orem area would be willing to give me a hand with getting some of this stuff worked out, I am always open to some help or some suggestions. Plus on top of that i would really love to meet some of the local off road scene. I want to find some fun little trails to go play on down here. Well I look forward to meeting any and everyone. I hope everyone is well.

The Cruiser Outfitters event this Friday evening and the Take Back Utah Rally & Parade this Sat morning are perfect opportunities to meet the marqee players.

What part of Alaska did you come from? It's a goal of mine to eventually tour a few areas and maybe even do some 4 wheeling up there.

Welcome!

But stuck more often.
Welcome Ian. I grew up in Anchorage and miss it big time. Although I like the rocks over the mud when it comes to wheeling. Hope you enjoy this place.

x2, definitely try to make it out to these events.

I'll be wrenching on my rig on saturday, you're welcome to drive up to Lehi and we can take a look at your rig and try to get some basic things working. I'd recommend trying to find some stock wheels/tires to throw on there for inspection. That being said, I've never done an inspection where they checked my windshield wipers or hi-beams. I'd avoid jiffy lube for inspections, they've been known to invent requirements.

Do you have any pictures of your new rig? How much experience do you have rockcrawling? We have an upcoming event for new wheelers, an instruction/wheeling day. We're calling it noob run #2. Click here for details.
