I've run 6 K&N's with no problems whatsoever. A chevy 350, Honda Accord, and Four 4Runners.
I hear of guys saying they foul the MAF and leave an oily residue on the intake tract. I believe all the bad reviews come from those that do not adhere to the maintenance procedures and over oil them.

I never experienced one problem and I've run the drop in style and full FIPK II kits.

A simple used oil analysis would easily put an end to this debate.

Personally, I dont like the K&N's because I'm a lazy buggar. I'd much rather just toss out some paper than spend my time cleaning and oiling some overpriced cotton ball.

Word, Gramps. I cleaned the incredily filthy one on the Blazer ( have I mentioned that I will gladly kill the PO for his stupidity?).... Besides the "recharging" kit costing more than a couple new paper filters, it was a huge PITA and I will never do it again. It trapped stuff in the oil, sure... but that also clogged everything up.

I am not impressed.

THAT is a perfectly logical reason not to use them. As for blah blah blah oooooh turbo blah blah blah, my turbo has around 80k on a K&N with ZERO dust in the intake and the stock turbo still puts out 28lbs of boost.

But then again people are convinced that the 20º difference in air temp with a cold air intake makes huge power gains even though the air goes through a 1000º turbo and then into an intercooler

-_-.... actually owning something with a turbo makes that about 1000 times funnier...although I am not a K&N Fan, too freakin expensive I figure regular filters are fine.

Just the knowledge that it is spooled? cuz you sure can't hear the damned things.
How can you not hear it? Granted Henry is a little louder than normal due to his "custom" exhaust. :ugh: But even with a professionally done exhaust, I can hear MaKenzie's turbo when it spools up. Maybe the only reason I hear it is because it makes me warm and happy and has been known to take me to happy places. :)

hmmmm maybe the CO air makes them louder.... I know I can hear my turbo though :greg: must be because all the vanes are worn out from the dust...

Figured I would edit so this wouldn't turn into a superdooty versus Cummins with dusty dirty unacceptable turbo cause of a K&N thread
