couple hours in the K Mart parking lot and we hit the road by 1 am. Loooooong day. Thanks again

Sounds like you guys spent some more time in town after I talked to you at the Chinese Buffet. Glad to see you made it home. Great job on the logs.

WOW!!
I wouldnt have beat the pink jeeps time of 58 seconds but I would have finished.

You actually stood a chance at beating the pink jeep. I was the official timer and you were at 44 seconds when your bead broke. Most likely you would have made it over the top in less than 14 seconds from where you lost the tire. Your tire ok?

Nice job to everyone there. Great job Wayne, a well deserved win. Hopefully Scott will let me help out again next year as long as he forgives me for breaking his water hose. Maybe after a couple years of helping I can take over and Scott can start competing again. :p
It was a fun day and it was great to meet some of you guys.

Yeah we debated after dinner in the parking lot and decided to pull the shafts because my fortune cookie said "make that decision you been thinking about" or something like that haha. I'm a sucker for superstition. It was probably the best idea anyways considering how much noise was coming from the from the front diff.

The positive comments just keep rolling in from the locals also. Not only did we as officials take it up a notch, but the competitors did as well and the crowed loved the show you gave them :hickey: .NoRig and 78mitsu both helped me personally a ton. Sounds like I need to keep sweet talking NoRig just a bit more :D . Great job to all that played and helped, thanks a bunch guys!

Latest update on my rig is that everything is gone in the front diff, i got replacement spiders but need new ring and pinion and they will also need to be set. Thats not cheap and the wheel bearing might be shot because of the long drive without axleshafts. The only way to tell will be when i re-assemble it all and wiggle the wheels to see if there is to much "play" in them.

The rich mans route could venture into the $1000 range if the wheel bearing are gone and everything is done by my shop.

The poor mans route is to install the new spiders myself and chance it by reusing the broken ring since only the tops of 2 of the teeth are chipped off and then not use 4 wheel drive till i can afford new ring and pinion and do it all myself which will only cost $30 for gear oil and RTV. And Hope the wheel bearing are ok.

What is everyones opinion? Input please cuz my decision will be made by morning... my vote is reuse the old crap and do everything my self cuz i have no money at all right now.

But hey i had fun doing it, and that what counts most

Wanye if you could shoot me a PM on the price of a new dana 30 yukon 4.56 ring and pinion with master install kit that would be very much appriciated.
Or if anyone has a set of these lying around please let me know

Tire is fine. I just put it back on the wheel. The valve stem was completely full of packed in mud. I had to dig it out but it was ok to.
I havent gotten a chance to check everything else out.
I cant believe I actually had a chance at winning the gauntlet! Why did I hit that rock so fast:mad2: Oh well. Watch out for me next year.........I will have beadlocks!!!

Oh yeah i remember see those pictures of your jeep i didnt realize it was becasue you had taken out the axle shafts.... Do you think something else could have been broken beforehand on yours Wayne? cuz mine seemed fine going about 65mph the whole time, I consider myself very lucky then if thats what happened to yours.
Nope... Just consider yourself very lucky that this didn't happen to you. That stub shaft does hold the tire on. My unit bearings were fairly new, as my Rubicon is only an 04, so...

The Gauntlet sure has changed since last year... I still can't believe I made it through as easy as I did.

Scott tried it and the mud pit on Sunday. The first time in the mud, he forgot to lock up, so I had to pull him out. The second time he remembered to hit the switch and went through it. Sitting over night, it also got a lot more muddy... Then he went over to the Gauntlet and the Gauntlet won again. Sheered the bolts on his flat top knuckle and took out a bead.

Was it the same rock that took out his bead that took out mine? I should have waited in the line to wash off with the fire hose. I took the Scout to the car wash last night. YUCK. That good ol Price mud must have had some cement in it as well. It is hanging on for life! Well worth it though

No, it was in the same place that Delbert rolled the yellow buggy.
