The King of the Hammers race is happening on Feb 22nd, 2 days away. Pirate4x4 will be there with live coverage, including video feed!

From POR-

About King of the Hammers;
KOH is the first race of its kind. The event will take place on February 22, 2008, and is a non-spectator event. The event will part rock race, and part desert race. Race teams will start at 30 second intervals from Means Dry Lake bed, and will navigate through the desert on a set race course to their first rock course. As of today, the official course has not been released, and is not going to be released until race week. What we do know is there will be approximatley 50-60 miles of desert racing, and approximately 7 Johnson Valley trails (aka: Hammer Trails - Sledgehammer, Jackhammer, Wrecking Ball, etc) to make up the course.

Who else is going to be watching? :freak:

I think JR's bronco is pretty sweet

I agree, that thing is very well built. 500 horsepower to boot! That'd be a helluva ride!

So who do you guys think is going to take it? I think JR has a pretty good shot between how his rig is built & the time he has spent out at Johnson Valley.

So is Aaron Clough the only Utahn that's going to be in the race? Apparently he has loaned his rear engine Moon buggy to 'Pistol' Pete Sohren for the race and Aaron will be co-driving with Pete.

That was Dec., 9th 2006 He had JUST put it together at the time. What a motor that thing has! Sweet portals too, he was the reason I bought some for my buggy. If someone can drive with a heavy foot and a motor like that and not destroy a portal axle....then I can make them hold together too! ;):rofl:
In the end, I sold them to a friend. I just didn't want to have to do all the work needed to make them fit, and worry every trail ride about whether or not they would break.
JR is a real nice guy, thanks to him I got my first tour of the Hammers. Great fun!

What a change some skins can make huh? What channel is this thing going to be on? Or is it?

Yep, I love how it's still recognizable as a Bronco. The live coverage will be all on POR, at the link listed above. It's a pretty big effort to get that kind of coverage from the middle of the desert!

Maybe its just me, but do they have that kind of bandwidth to handle so many viewers? There will be a lot of people online with this.
Guess we will find out :)

Its Pirate they just harness the negativity of the board to power it;) It should be sweet though, some of the rigs are gonna explode I think though

Looks like there's another Utah guy in the race, Dean Bulloch is also competing. I'd like to see Dean do well, he's a good driver with lots of comp. experience under his belt. I wonder how the high-speed stuff is going to treat that Suzuki V6.

My bet is he'll be driving his new-last-year Twisted Customs buggy, which is LS1 powered. Much better suited for go-fast stuff, I'm thinkin. :)

Ahhh... I haven't kept up with his latest rig. Well then, I'd say he's a contender. You wouldn't happen to know of any pics of Deans rig, would you?
