400 west and 600 south, on the north west corner there is a yard that was cranking out trailers all summer long. For a long time they had a "welders wanted" sign up. When I drive by tomorrow I will look for it again, but it maybe worth a visit to ask them.

Also the oil boom in Vernal has a pretty high demand for welders.

EDIT: Looks like Maverick got to the vernal lead faster than me :)

Is he looking for temp work or a career? The Union Pacific hires welders quite often, they have a pretty decent job. Pay starts around $22-23/hr with great bene's & retirement. M-F, 6am-4pm. They do require welders to have a Class B CDL, since they operate out of smallish Freightliners.

Here's the link for jobs in UT, there's no welding jobs up currently but it should change often-

Welders are a hot commodity right now. He shouldn't have a hard time finding something. We may be hiring as well. But it'd likely be a field position, traveling all over the US, but mostly the Western half. Pay is decent, and you get weekly subsistence. PM me for more info if interested.

400 west and 600 south did not have their help wanted sign up. Not sure if they are still making trailers or not.

A large company near the Ogden area just relocated a significant part of its operation to Idaho because they couldn't find enough welders here. A buddy of mine teaches welding at the DATC. I just interviewed him along with many of the adult students and discovered there is a very high demand for welders not only in the top of Utah, but nation-wide. I would presume if he's having a hard time finding work, then he's looking in the wrong areas.
