Casey's rig had an issue with the rear spool. Nothing to do with the torq 14 equipment. Apparently getting the spool to work with the 40 spline axles was a last minute difficulty and they couldn't get things dialed and just had to hope for the best. It only lasted 20 miles. He also blew a front driveline. He has spares, but with 3 wheel drive being the only possibility it was best to throw in the towel for the day. I anticipate that car will get the bugs worked out with all the new equipment and prove to be very fast this season.

I had a chance to meet alot of the racers in the line up and was really surprised to see how nice and down to earth they were. Ben Napier and JT Taylor were really cool to talk to. Had the chance to watch the mayhem at Chocolate Thunder and see the bottleneck action. Pretty cool.

Dustys car ran pretty good with the new 427. Had a small fire early. Stopped to help Casey. Had a p/s pump blow on Chocolate Thunder.
I expect to see Casey and Dusty having good seasons in 2012.
I helped both teams prepare, but once on the course your hands are tied.

No they are not a required in the ultra 4 races, but it seems more and more are being used. Some peeps are still wearing motocross helmets

Like Chad said, no neck braces are even required, just highly recommended. They should at least require the neck braces that are like $50.

I would think with the speed and places these cars are, a neck brace should be required and a Hans device should be highly recommended, if not required.

Speed + open desert could have a tragic ending.
