Labor Day weekend in Moab

Well, no pics yet but the trip is off to a great start...

I hit a deer at 75mph while passing a semi in the canyon...
















Luckily someone else had already hit it and I managed to squeeze close enough to the semi so that only my driver duals hit it

I stopped at the gas station at the top to look things over in the light... no damage, but my inside dual was flat. I drove to Helper and it held air

And THAT is why you should buy a dually, so you don't have to wreck, or at least so you don't have to change a tire in the dark when its 34F

Yup, only. 75mph, had my seat belt on and wasn't even txting

If you didn't have that dually, would you have gotten that flat??


Seems like I've had more flats on duals than I have singles. And it's ALWAYS the harder to replace inside dual.

Doesn't seem to have come from the deer, I must have a screw making it leak slow. Its still up from this morning.

We did part of Golden Spike, then Kane Creek to the dugout. It was a dry mofo until about 3/4 of the way in, then we found some deep holes and a little running water and a ton of frogs.

I have a few pics, we are headed back to camp now, if I have signal I'll post them in a bit.

Ahhhh City Market, seems like this is always my first stop when I roll into town, now it doesn't seem like I'm in Moab until I stop there

Hells is pretty fun on quads, but man is it a short trail (time wise) on quads

Its hard to get many pics on quads because you are always moving fast.

Looks like all we are going to get from this "storm" is clouds and wind. It keeps circling around us.

As far as trip reports go I think this is about the most boring I've done...

We're all having a blast though, I've been reminded of something I already knew, Shawn is good people and he has an awesome family.

We are going to run Behind the Rocks, maybe drop down into Pritchett a bit, then go poke around BFE

BHtR was pretty cool on quads, we went in on the tip toe and did everything we could...

Its HOT I wish that storm had materialized...

I didn't take any pics, but I took a few vids of Shawn that I'll ul when I get home.

There are a lot of people in town but we aren't seeing many on the trails

We're headed back to camp to wait for it to cool down a bit then we'll prolly go on another evening ride.

I think we are going to do Hey Joe tomorrow

My trip's over. Started to head out for an evening ride and noticed that hauling ass on Behind the Rocks had broken my battery box

I'm still not sure why it went flat, I haven't taken the time to look for a screw.. it still has a bunch of air in it right now. I'm thinking that when they rotated them last weekish they must have checked the air and the core didn't seat correctly.

Plastic battery box and it's currently wedged a couple inches from a driveline, I don't think they would mix into something I'd be very proud of. :-\

Huh, did you have them rotate the air in your tires? Last time I checked you don't pull the core to check the air

You've been lucky then. I've seen it hundreds of times, it's not hard to hear it leaking... but then again the idiot who rotated them also lined up the valve stems on the inner and outer tire and had to redo it.

Sunday on Behind the Rocks was HOT, I think we spent more time drinking than driving.
