Legal to have bumper mounted fuel cans?

Finishing up my bumper mounted scepter cans this week, and my dad inquired if it was legal for you to carry fuel on the back of your vehicle? Anybody have any insite on actual restrictions or laws?

Interesting question... one of those things you never think to question I 'spose.

I absolutely do not know the legally correct answer. I do know that I've driven many tens of thousands of miles on public roads with them mounted and never had any trouble. Also never had any trouble with inspections the many years I had them mounted.

As long as they are legal containers designed to hold fuel, you should be fine.
