The new Les Schwab in Draper has always treated me well. I have never bought anything from them but they always are ready to answer my stupid questions and have done 2 free tire swaps when I needed to pass inspection.

the discount tire in layton has been fair, i had an accident on one of my vehicles which was totaled out, (blew 1 tire) so i wanted to swap 3 of the new tires that was on the totaled vehicle to another vehicle, i didnt have their coverage on the tires, but when we went in, they pulled a sweet deal and instead of charging like 110$ they charged like 40 or 60 for their coverage plan and replaced the tire.

I agree with everyone.... Should have negotiated a price first. But at the same time, over a $100, come on! I just had Discount up here take off my 35" tires and install new ones that I did not buy from them (had them in stock already) and they only charged me ~$70...And that was high, because I made them use sticky weights. ...But I did negotiate (inquire is a better word, I asked and they told me) the price before hand.

EDIT: It's obvious the guy was pissed off at you for bringing in tires you bought off the internet.... you know, damn internet, taking all of his business...

All in all the tire buisnesses have to compete with each other that is why you have to ask before hand! Of course they all charge different! And since were comparing Mcdonalds to tires! Think about it this way, when you go to Mcdonalds, do you bring your own meat in and ask them to cook it? That is how they make money! Off the tires they sale so of course he was bent that you didnt buy the tires from him! But Im not saying that it is right to over charge you! My point is if your really concerned about the price just call around before hand.... Just my 2 cents!

But Im not saying that it is right to over charge you!

That's all I'm saying - they over charged. Anyone here who has had tires put on their trucks more than a few times knows they over charged. $36 a tire for m&b and valve stem is retarded. To over charge out of spite for where someone purchased a product is bad business (and retarded).

I've worked customer service for 15 yrs. Someone who has a bad experience will tell EVERYONE they can. On the flip side, someone who has a good experience rarely tells others (unfortunately).

It may not affect your business tomorrow, but eventually . . .

I'm off to McDonalds with my free beef from Les Schwab.

Business is business. People like that won't be in business for much longer. WIth the internet today and the ability to buy items cheaper, one with a store front has to do something to get you to buy from them instead. If they can't compete with the prices, then they need to offer outstanding service and support. If you're goign to jack up your prices, and still not offer service and support, then close up shop because there is no reason left to buy there.

I am an internet business, and I still offer to help people with nothing in return. Heck, sometimes I'll offer advice and then point them to a competitor because they have a better price than I do. It's all about helping people, who gives a sh!t if you make $30. Is loosing that customer worth it? It costs more money to keep a customer than it does to loose one.

My balance example today ... guess what I brought in my own meat and they cooked it for free.

Not a good comparision.

These go to 11
Compare this. I went to Discount on 45th & state with my factory rubber that had a slow leak. Dropped the truck off and when I came back they had found the problem, the stem, swapped it out. Then checked my mileage and rotated my tires for good measure. Then handed me my keys and asked that I come back and buy tires from them when I needed them. Wow. I had never had anyone go out of their way like that for me before. And I don't even have boobs to look at.

I go to that one all the time, they have fixed multiple flats for me at no cost, and when the Les Schwab in brigham said they couldnt get black steel rims for my friend they even sent some to his house at no extra charge. I havn't been there in about 6 mo. I wonder if they are going through changes. I guess I will have to make sure everything is clear before I have any more work done. Thanks for the warning.

I agree with the Les Schwab problems. This perticular store was in the Lindon/ P.G. area. They quoted me over $120 to balance/rotate my 4 STOCK SIZED tires and do an alignment. My truck runs 235-75-R15's with aftermarket rims. (for now)

I went back to the Big-O, off of Exit 260 here in Springville (thats south of Provo) and they have taken care of me since I have moved up here. I had my tires rotated and balenced along with my alignment, to include them removing a nail I didnt know I had free of charge. I have never had to worry about their integrity and the guys even dropped me off at my house and picked me up in their BIG-O truck when the work was completed. Now thats what I call service.

Back to the Schwab thing.....

The one in Logan blows as well. The only reason I EVER go there is to have one of my buddies sneak in some work under the table, and no I don't feel guilty.

One of my many Schwab stories goes as follows: I saw some Baja Claw 33's used (40-50% tread left) there on Monday and asked a price.... $450 the salesman said! A piece? I asked  . He assured me that they are over $1200 new :)rofl:   ) without rims, and that they where pretty much giving them away for that price. I passed

Anyway on a brighter note their Foam filled shocks are simply amazing on a light weight rig like my Toyota I love them :)
