Let's talk 6.7l Fords. Good, bad and the ugly....

My '04 Cummins was a great engine wrapped in a craptastic truck. It'd take a GREAT deal for me to get into a Dodge again. It'll be even more difficult because I haven't even looked at one. (my wife was pretty funny when that truck drove away with a new owner....she said she could see the relief in my face)

I am not saying anything negative about the Ford or anything positive about the Dodge. Just a switch that I have been seeing here lately. I suppose no news is good news for the 6.7l Ford. I think my neighbor just bought one but, I only saw it last night was all.

My friend has had one of every powerstroke. He says the 6.7 is by far his favorite with the 7.3 his second pick. He buys a new one everytime they come out, but said he has no plans of replacing 6.7

My BIL had a 2015 6.7. He tows a big curbing trailer that weighs around 12k when loaded with sand and cement. The 6.7 he bought has 3.33 gears. Why he didn't notice that I have no idea. His previous rig was a studded and egr deleted, tuned 6.0. He told me every time I saw him that he wanted the 6.0 back.
In may he traded the new Ford for a 2015 Dodge. Surprisingly he said the dmax was the cheapest and he paid more for the Dodge than he could have replaced the Ford for. He now has the Dodge for sale to trade back to the 6.7 Ford. He hates how the Dodge tows. Just his opinion and we all know what they are like.
For what it's worth, Ford took note of things like oil cooler and egr cooler issues on the 6.p when they designed the 6.7. All the common fail parts are moved to easy to access places on the motor.

Sounds like Ford logic... instead of making them not fail, lets move them so access is easier.

Hey, at least you don't have to pull the cab off the truck to remove the heads!

in 2010 when Dodge stepped up there interior game I noticed alot of people swapping over to the dodge, Everybody knows its the best motor they just needed a better truck and in 2010 or 2011 (not sure the exact year they switched) I honestly think Dodge delivered a nice comfy truck that didnt fall apart over wash board roads

As far as the 6.7 Fords go, 2011-2014 seem to be the years to have. My co worker had a 2013 model and swore that he would have that truck until the day he died. Then came that fateful day six months ago when he saw a pretty silver F250 at the dealership that he just had to have. He traded his in and has regretted that decision since that time. He says that he does not like the hesitation that it has when towing and does not even feel safe towing with it. He has had it in the shop three times due to this issue and is currently being told that Ford is working out a fix to the problem he is having but needs to work all the bugs out for the fix to take place. Once they do this, they plan on doing a recall in 3/2016 to address the issues that they are seeing. It seems that the owners of the earlier model 6.7's are not seeing this same problem.
