im not much of a motor builder, more of a motor destroyer, so I need your help. over the last weekend my 22re blew its timing chain at the lucas regional race. when that happens, what all gets destroyed and needs replaced? the whole motor? the head? the timing chain?

Not often wrong. Never quite right.

22re is an interference engine, meaning if it loses timing the pistons and valves might try to be in the same place at the same time. No telling exactly what damage was done until you pull the head and see - worst case scenario you'll need to rebuild the head and replace a piston or two. The crank and bearings in the bottom should be good, but it wouldn't hurt to check them anyway.

The way you use a motor, you might wanna call Ted at engnbldr.com and see if he recommends a dual timing chain setup.
