I am using the latter traction bar. Uses hiem above the shackle, and rubber bushings on the axle mounts.
Problem with this though. Instead of the axle rotating, I get body lift. I have to be a little more careful taking left hand turns. If I put the bar on the right hand side, it would probably be better, as it would help counteract the torque of the motor. Before I put this bar on, I had problems with the left front tire coming off the ground. I only can guess what this will do, the body really rolls to the right when I take off.
There are ways to prevent this, but that is a whole nother subject.
Wish I knew this before I built it though. I would have designed it differently.
