Lighten the mood

I've always made homeless people promise me they would not buy food with the money before giving it to them.

I can't afford it anymore but for a lot of years one of my Christmas traditions was handing out ten, $20 bills to the winos at the old N. Temple liquor store. I'd hold it out to them, then pull it back and say "you have to promise me you won't spend this on food" before handing it to them. Biggest smiles you've ever seen.
