Little Deer Creek???

I just read a post about roads to Heber from AF and it made me remember something... anyone ever been in little deer creek canyon. From Cascade Springs it is straight down the canyon. I am told it used to be a pretty rough/fun jeep trail that went all the way through to Provo Canyon. However, some very wealthy land owner (president of Nuskin i'm told) has bocked off the public road (blocked off is an understatement: 10' fence, barbed wire, security cameras...). We were unaware of the closure and tried to mountain bike the road and ended up in the bottom of the canyon, 10 miles from home in the rain at 9:30 P.M. I asked around and it sounds like wasatch county just looked the other way and gave up the public right of way. Pretty dissapointing. From what I saw of the canyone it looked very fun and very scenic. Does anyone have any more information on this?

The original route that follows the stream has been closed, but they created an alternate route that skirts around their property and then rejoins the stream route part way up (well below Cascade Springs).

Yeah, I used to drive that trail all the time, back a few years. There is a northern and southern route, but I haven't been down there since the change in the road.....

I drove that trail a bunch of times back in '98 or '99, and it was a blast. Then one day I went up there and it was all blocked off with fences and concrete barriers. I was very disappointed :mad2:

I would like to know exactly what happened also!

I used to camp up there al the time when I went to BYU. they have closed the main portion that went along (and crossed) the stream. The new route is also fun and relatively steep. I drove it with the family early last year. The big bummer is that the camping is all blocked off. There used to be some great creekside spots up there. Even the new route is blocked off most of the year because there is a gate right by the Deercreek dam. I looked a couple months ago and it was closed. It would be nice to know if the gate is open or closed before I head up AF canyon to head over there.

It is open all way, was earlier this year, but we drove it last weekend since I saw gate was open on Provo Canyon side on way up to my family reunion so some of my cousins decided to take run up there.

I drove by it this past saturday and it was open. I havent wheeled it in 3 years and will as soon as I am done puttin my B2 back together.

The alternate route isnt as fun as the old route, but its still good. Its even more fun after a good rain or little snow
