I am not for more govt. oversight, but a part of me doesn't think these folks should be able to set up permanantly on land they don't own. It would prevent others from utilizing/enjoying it too. In Idaho most camping is limited to 14 days at a time. Is there something in the ordinances on that? Get a spot at one of the rv dumps. I am torn on this, I like the individuality part of it but not the rest.

These are my thoughts exactly. it seems like they've set up a little community and even have the "Closed, no tresspassing" signs. To me, that alone is a reason to kick them out. they've claimed that area as "theirs." I can appreciate that kind of living and on certain days, I'd love to join-in, but if they're shutting the public out of that public land, GTFO so that everybody can enjoy it.

I spent 4 months in the early 80's living around southwest Utah out of a 63 Ford falcon with two other guys and three women.
We started out on a weekend trip and would drive around to see things and sleep wherever we could at night.
Alcohol and drugs distorted the time into the more than a weekend.
We emptied out six bank accounts on food and gas.
When we got back to Salt Lake I left for a two month weekend in San Diego.:D
