hey dan i been runing a LR in the front of my 60 for 3 plus hard years and no problem yet. i wouldn't even think of buying a detriot now that this has held up so well to the abuse my friend greg put it thru, then i been killing it for a few years now and no breakage yet. in a semi light buggy that your building it will be fine, jason.

Thanks man. I think that I have decided that this is the way that I am going to go.

I used a Powertax No-Slip in my front 60 with 39" tires in comp a long time ago. Never a single problem. I think they have one that will go into a limited slip carrier too.

I run the No-Slip (big brother to the loc-rite) in a 44 with no problems. I am only running 35's, but pretty big power in a fairly heavy rig. One of our crew runs a loc-rite in a 14 bolt rear in his rig that runs on 39" IROC's with a doubler and low gearing in the diffs. After almost 5 years he has had no problems at all.
Check out the NO-Slip though. A little more $$$$ but IMO well worth it. Now that I have had one in for 3 years I am sold and have one going into my new 60 rear I am building.

I've run a lockrite in a sammy, cherokee and in the front of my scrambler for almost 10 years...D44 w/38's and a V8. The lockrite is stronger than what it replaces. The only reason it gets a bad rap in D35's is cuz the housing flexes and that does bad things.

I'd run one in the front of a 60 in a heartbeat.

Hey kids,

Yes, I have a lock-rite in my HP60 front axle. It's been in the axle for just over 4 years. I recently put in 5.38s and the RL stills looks brand new. No signs of wear on any of the pins/springs/teeth.

I run Mt Logan Slugs and have done many full throttle blasts with the set-up....just keep mind I run the factory 4.0 with 5.38s and a 5.0 atlas. The 4.0 is no power house, so that might be the reason the RL is still together. I have twisted the splines on the stock axles but no damage to the locker.

I paid just over $325 for the LR and I do not regret putting it in there.

My 2 cents!

What do you think about the LR in a front 60 with 454 and 39.5's? Keep in mind that I've had a LR in a D44 with 38's and small block for 9 years, no broken shafts either.

Huh...I should have read the rest of the thread. It answered my question...and I even answered my own question.

The only Lock-Rite I have seen wear out was Chris Holleys, in a Dana 44 front axle. He wheeled hard & often, including many UROC Comps. He did the spring & pin replacement a few times (once between obstacles at a Farmington, NM UROC Comp), until the teeth of the lockrite started rounding off. IMO he got his moneys worth out of it. Even when it was worn out, it still worked 95% of the time. I'm sure at that point he had many, many miles of hard wheeling on that locker.

I run LRs in my weak stock axels and have done for years. I know they aren't respected in the way the detroits are but if they work who cares? A broken axel in the rear didn't do anything to it. I have had to warranty the rear LR time for rounded off edges that happened within 6 mos of purchase. The newer one is 4+ years old and is great. Now if these have done fine in smaller axels, I'm sure they'll do fine in larger ones.

What spline are the shafts in your 60? Im selling a new Detroit for the 30 splines if you decide not to go the lock right route.
