Lock Right pin broke? w pics

About 200 miles ago I installed a lock right in the rear dana 44 of the cherokee. Ever since I had a rear diff leak, but I wanted to give it a little time in case something like this happened:rolleyes: Well everything was workind great for the first 100 miles, but I drove out past tooele on saturday and the locker was really clunking around almost twice as bad as before. I could barley notice it previously. So I got in to the diff to fix my leak and found this. What do you guys think? It was just one pin that was sheared and wedged between. It wasn't a clean break, more sorta diagonal. I'm leaning towards just slapping another pin in it, the springs were fine.

Been there done that, replace the pins and rock on. Last time I replaced them they were like $10.00 for the set, that was when dino's roamed the earth so they might be $15.00 now.

The pins are designed to sheer and get stuck in there like that to keep the locker engaged. Strange that it sheer just from regular driving... A new pin should do the trick.

Ah, it has begun. I told you running lunchbox locker in the rear axle blows. At least you can now order a hardened center pin:greg:

All kidding aside, I'd e-mail the manufacturer your pics and ask for some feedback.

I have some extra pins, although I can't remember if they are for the 44,60 or 14bolt. If you measure the diameter I can check.

what did the clunking sound like? mines been clunking, maybe this is the issue...

It was pretty quiet before, much better then I was expecting. Then it was unloading pretty roughly and you could hear a lot more popping when it got loaded up

Tera sells the pin/spring kits..Should be in stock. Did you replace the thrust washers when you put the locker in? Replacing those makes sure the gap in the center of the LR is the proper size... Also, if you didn't already, it is a really good idea to buy the lock right specific center pin as well. They are much harder than stockers. Tera has those also, and they're not too much $$$.

I had my EZ Locker in over 6 years with zero issues, sold it last week to someone and it was almost like new. Not sure how yours screwed up so soon?

I ran down to six states and was able to get Shawns dino pricing and it cost me 29 bucks out the door. 10 bucks for the spring/pin kit, 2 new thrust washers for under 2 bucks and a new heavy duty lockright center pin for 17 so Goat will leave me alone about it.:p
