I just got the A/C charged on my tacoma and it still blows hot. Anyone have any great A/C repair guys they recommend? The closer to Lehi the better.

stupid question, but is A/C diagnosis something most shops do? I've got an amazing mechanic in Orem, but I assumed he didn't mess with A/C. I'll have to give him a call.

I take everything to The Torque Shop in Lindon, right off Exit 273 in Lindon. Mike is the owner and is a very honest man. He's quoted me a price and then the job ended up taking twice as long as he thought -- never charged me a penny more. I'm sure he does A/C stuff...

A/C is kinda a specialty thing. It has to be done right or it simply won't work for long. I wouldn't take it to just any mechanic.
You'll probably at minimum need to flush the system and track down and fix any leaks using UV dye or some other method, and maybe change the accumulator/receiver/dryer, and recharge the system with freon and oil.
I'd stay away from any mechanic that tries to simply recharge the system without the tracking down the leak (the reason it's empty in the first place).

I've been lied to by the Big O's in Spanish Fork and the one by Univeristy Mall - one about brakes and one about cv joints. I'll never go back to one. YMMV.

Davy introduced me to his friend Marcus who owns a shop in Lindon called New Ways. They specialize in natural gas stuff but I have them do all the stuff I can't do myself on my and my parent's cars. They're always honest, up front, and they haven't let me down yet.

Just to be clear, I agree with what's been said that mechanics that don't know AC shouldn't be fixing them. The University Mall Big O has diagnosed and fixed many AC problems that my family has had including leaks, condenser, compressor, and just low freon. They were even able to get the AC working in Cody's old ZJ after not working for many years. I wouldn't recommend a shop that couldn't do the job. Sorry to hear others have had problems with other items there, I haven't and I've been going there for about 15 years.

Sixstringsteve, Chad Carter in American Fork does AC and is very knowledgable with them and is very reasonable. That is where I am building my Scrambler.. He is also a fellow wheeler.

If you want to contact him his number is 801-319-9329. I know that he is in Silverton wheeling right know but will be back on Monday.
