Hello everyone, I just registered and thought I'd introduce myself. I got a Jeep for free last august. Yes, for FREE :D It's a 95 white 2 door cherokee sport. There was a reason the jeep was free though. One of my dad's friends bought the jeep for his daughter and she drove the wheels off it, 250k miles on it. I guess it had a dead battery and they jumped it backwards and fried something and they couldn't get it started. Then they left it in the bushes and let their dogs live in it, which is pretty gross. Anyway, the daughter went off to college or something and didn't want it, so the guy gave it to my dad.

My dad got it started, but it was only running on 4 or 5 cylenders. None of the electronics worked either. He limped it back to our house(this was all in washington state) My dad put a new computer module in it and it fixed it. It ran fine again. Then, there was something wrong with the trailer brake module that was in it. My dad cut that out and all the electronics worked again. Don't know what the deal with that was, but it was working again. I came home to visit(I was in college here in utah at the time) and I cleaned the jeep. it was still nasty from the dogs. my mom, dad, and brother all cleaned it. it was still nasty. It sat in the garage for a while. I asked my dad what he was going to do with it and he said nothing, you want it?

I brought it to utah and then took all the seats out and rented a rug doctor and cleaned the heck out of it. Now it's pretty nice. The jeep still has lots of things that need fixing, but it's a capable wheeling machine. The nice thing is it was free and it's already beat up, so I can beat the crap out of it on the trails and have a blast!

I've done some wheeling growing up with my dad in our truck, so I got the basics down. This is my first jeep. I've got lots to learn. I want to do all kinds of cool mods to the jeep, but I don't have much money to throw at it right now.

I've grown up mostly riding dirtbikes. I pretty much love all motorsports though. I like bikes, cars, jeeps, crawlers, snowmobiles, anything with an engine:D

Anyway, always looking for some jeeping buddies to go with. I live like right down the hill from the big B in Bountiful.

Does anyone know of any other areas that are kinda close besides the B and farmington canyon? everything is closed. The B is great, but it gets old after a while.

Welcome. Like Steve said if its reliable it doesn't even need to be all that capable to have fun. Just make sure it is mechanically sound and keep an eye out in the upcoming trips section. I'll gladly wheel with you. Most of the trails here in northern Utah are easy enough for a stock jeep.

A good suggestion you will surely get would be to wheel it oas is and then do some little stuff after you have figured out what your needs are. A lift and big tires are great and all but nearly as usefull as lockers.

Do a lot of searching and reading on the forum to get some ideas but make sure you make it yours and build so you will be happy with it after all you are the one that has to look at it and drive it.

Actually, I've beaten on the Jeep pretty hard and it's been holding up good so far. It seems pretty reliable for having so many miles on it. :)

Welcome, me and Steve go back a ways nothing directed towards you. Trail breakage is just part of the hobby. Sometimes I kind of enjoy trail fixing in a weird sort of way.
