The post was aimed at me and I also stuck to the facts! I just used the most accurate language availible to mankind to describe a (I hesitate to say man) man of ill repute.

Now the advice...

If you paid with paypal then you need to take the dispute up with the paypal guys, it is a lengthy process but I have gotten my money back when I had a dispute with a jerk electronics vendor. If you sent a check or money order you might very well be out of a lot of money and are left with no recourse but to file charges with the local PD.

What info do you have for contacting him? It is pretty well known that he had a company and a website. The website was www.creasyoffroad.com, but it appears to not be working any more. It is easy enough to find archives of old websites at archive.org. Here is a link to his website archive that has a phone number posted.

Helping out a friend the other day, I was near greasey's shop. Noticed several eviction notices on the door....But his ghetto fabulous Grand was still parked there. Didn't appear to have moved in a long time....

If it's sent via US mail, then it is mail fraud and you will have to contact his (or your, it will be forwarded to SLC though) local postal inspector office (PM me and I will get you that number if you need it) or file a fraud alert on the USPS website. If this is the case, your local PD can't do anything about it, other than tell you to contact the postal inspector office (if they even know to tell you that).

Also, if it was a POSTAL money order, it doesn't make any difference how the $'s were sent - it's 100% mail fraud and contact your post office where you obtained the money order.

You're lucky if it's mail fraud, because the Salt Lake City postal inspector office is slow and you have much better chances of it being resolved quicker. And not put in a stack of 'to-dos' under others that have a higher priority.

If it's sent any other way than US Mail, then contact his (or your?) local PD and file a theft charge. With that amount, sent over state lines, this is a federal case, though, so I'm not sure what the PD can actually do for you.

A lot of people think that they have no recorse and are 'screwed'. Literally, anything that is illegaly sent through the US mail is mail fraud and it is a federal offense. It doesn't matter if you bought an 'original' on ebay, and it turns out it was fake. That is mail fraud. If you sign up for a mortgage and the papers arrive different than they were supposed to (more fees than shoudl be) that is also mail fraud. Every single hurricane victim, etc. is investigated. If it turns out they did not deserve their assistance, that is mail fraud as well. In fact, all of the thousands from the LA deal 2 years ago are under investigation. Kathleen has already arrested and charged dozens with fraud. It doesn't matter, it could be $1 or $1000....

She has three kids (18-19) in prison right now for federal crimes over $180.

They don't have tasers. They are trained to 'stop the threat'. They don't have to deal with the BS/politics that the police dept does. You know, why did you kill him, you could have shot him in the leg. Or his gun wasn't even loaded or it was fake. Nope. If she feel's there is a threat she can take the proper measures to remove that threat.

She packs a SIG 40 - very nice gun!! Shoots very well with not much of a kick.
EDIT: ..and brass jacketed hollow points :D
