Last year myself and a couple fellow NAXJA members met up and ran the Hole in the Rock trail prior to our Fall Fling in Moab. This year we got a couple more people to show up and made a more ambitious journey out of it, hence the name. We had five vehicles, 4 XJ's and a Tacoma. We ran the following trails (in order) with the initial goal of arriving in Moab via little or no pavement;
Arch Canyon
Hotel Rock
Peavine Canyon (Dark Canyon Wilderness Area)
Elk Ridge (Abajo Mountains)
Beef Basin (Ruin Park, Bobbys Hole etc)
Needles District of Canyonlands N.P.
The majority of our tour group called it good and left for Moab at this point but I felt great so I pushed on and capped off the tour with
Lockhart Basin.
Excellent backcountry off road experience, few people, camping under the stars, incredible scenery, some fun trails, couldn't ask for a better trip.
I put together a sizeable photo album (click here)
