I saw this a few months ago on pirate and thought I would start a thread on RME in hopes I could get someone to chime in if they have tried this or had thoughts about the idea...

Motorcycle Tire Size:
200/55/17 or 200/50/17

To inflate/deflate the offroad tire you have to deflate the beadlock.
(You will always have to relieve tube pressure or the tube will press against the
main valve stem hole and act like a one way valve or a flap, as you stop putting
air in, the tube pushes back against the main valve stem hole otherwise.)

I don't know what those tires run, but a cursory look around says 100 bucks plus. I paid 125 a piece for my stauns. Cool, but probably not worth the hassle

Yeah, $100 atleast...not worth it in the least bit.

But they wouldn't have to be a new tire right????

junk tire that holds air may be $50ea

Go find a junk motorcycle tire in that size :D I doubt you'll find anything and anything you do find will be trashed. :)

I think the pirate guy was just running low pro SUV tires, not motorcycle. Those should be easy to find a worn out set. They don't even need to hold air - he drilled holes in his; they just need to contain the tube.

Most likely you would have to be smart and head to the track and meet some motorcycle guys that always have race takeoffs for $5 a pop to make it economical over production versions. Where theres a will theres usually a way around our motorsports community. :D

Exactly right unimog, and there are two different designs... one with a tube in the tire and one without.

Here is an example of the MuttLock

BFG Tire Liners from desert guys could be found for 25bonez. Or probably a few cases of high point.
Well have to see how many guys run them in KOH 2013, a few in the top 10 last year had them.
