Maybe the stupidest tire ? ever !!!

Okay so feel free to point and laugh all you want. I am new to the tire scene and have a very stupid question. My buddy is trying to sell me a set of sticky mickey's (excellent shape, excellent price). I know they say not for highway use but what is considered highway use? I will trailer it most places, but what if I want to take a quick ride out to the inlaws in Goshen or take the boys camping up Payson lakes or maybe a quicky out to Little Moab? The most pavement they would see is 18 miles to the Little Moab turn off. Am I okay going with stickys or should I stay with good old M/Ts?

They are not for on road use. Could you? Sure. Will they wear out a lot faster and possibly fly apart? Sure. Could you get pulled over and impounded for not having a dot approved tire or possibly get in a wreck? Maybe. Would I drive 18 miles on the road with them? No.

Don't run stickies down the road. I ran mine on road on short trips between trails in Moab a time or two and regret it.

Probably what I'll do. Thanks for the info everyone. Maybe I will just find me a set of tires and wheels to swap when off the trail.

If they say not for highway use they are some very old tires.
Mickey thompson tires even stickeys have been DOT approved for at least 6 years.
As said above they will wear out very quickly.

Sorry I didn't clarify. The tires themselves don't say not for highway use. I have heard people say stickies are not for highway use. I think I am either going to get them with another set to run on highway, or save my money and get some good tires to use both ways.

If you're getting that good of a deal, buy them. Run them and have fun. Or sale them for profit.
