Lets talk about Metal Bandsaws.

I have a project Id like to tackle myself that would involve cutting some thin-wall square tubing (1x1 or 2x2). Id have to cut some arches or arch out the end of the tubing .
Thought I saw someone on here getting rid of one but cant find it. Also thought of maybe converting a wood bandsaw with a metal cutting blade but not sure if it would hold up. Anyone have ideas on that. The metal saws ive seen are huge and would take up a good chuck of space in my shop but if maybe I found one at a decent price .

I bought my HF one like 6-7 years ago for around $120 and have been running it fairly often and have definitely gotten my money's worth out of it. A few minor tweaks and built a new stand for it and I expect more years to come.

I converted an upright HF wood saw.

I know that i had the electrical parts lying around so it my not be cost effective.

i installed a 3/4 HP 3 phase motor and control it with a 2HP freq drive.

220 single phase in---- 220 3 phase out

that gives me complete speed control with a foot pedal, and a good metal blade

I have one of the little harbor freight horizontal band saws I keep tripping over. It has been used very very little. I have access to much better saws and will never use it again. $30 and it can be yours.
