Ive been looking at some 44" Goodyear 12.00R20 G272 military tires for my one ton 4X4 but Know absolutely nothing about the performance of such a heavy, and stiff tire for off road use and cant find much information on the forum to help me. Tread pattern looks great for cutting and the price is right but obviously their must be reasons people don't use these on their off road vehicles. Anyone with experience using this type of tire please school me on the reasons you don't see them on many off road applications.

There's a few big tire rigs on here. Im sure will chime in sometime.
But if you can afford them, run em' .
I'd just air down more to take the stiffness out.
What gears are you running in your axles ?

I had some Michelin XML's we ran on a f-150 crawler thing back like 9 years ago. We pulled the valve cores and ran them all week at EJS with zero psi.
Only near the end of the week did they start softening up and working lol.
I'd imagine these are similar.

I have a set of 52's that I used to mock up/ roll my axles around while building, they have a huge bead that will not mount on a standard light truck rim and are so heavy they would rip most vehicles apart, the 42 ish sizes are not as bad but still built to hold major weight and extrem contitions, if your wanting your tires to perform avoid surplus, the 52's weigh over 600 lbs each and my 54's weigh 202 lbs

Ever used a tire grover? I started to with my 52s years ago, you can make them much more flexible, aggressive and lighter if you don't like something and I was told to put diesel or atf on mine to soften the contact patch, never tried that tho
