I believe they closed it a few years ago. Although I never ran it I think it was just up past Cliff Hanger, but I could be wrong.

I think it's my copy of Wells, or maybe on Trail Damage that I read that a large rockfall closed it and they never reopened it.

The bottom part goes through some private property and is gated. We have talked to the owner about opening it, but he has not been very cooperative. If someone wanted to battle for it, it might be possible to get it re-opened, but I'm not sure it is worth the effort. I have driven it, and it is a fun trail, but it is an in-and-out with no feasible way to connect back into Cliffhanger. The rockslide could be cleared with some work, at least it could have a few years ago when I first saw it. People still use it for hiking (it was part of trhe trail marathon we helped with last weekend). Not sure about mountain biking.

My grandpa told me about this trail. He was saying that at the top, was a huge rock next to a cliff you had to maneuver around, and it leaned you way over the cliff? I have never seen it in person, or thought to look at it actually. Maybe something to look at next time I am in that area?

It was a fun trail, i was lucky enough to have ran it twice. but like jeff said it may not be worth the fight. Clearing the rockslide looked doable when a few yrs ago but i have no idea now. The one i really miss was boulder alley, i want that one open again :)

I've hiked Killer Kane a bunch of times. I liked camping at the bottom in the trees but I think that spot is closed off now.

Even before the slides and washouts I'll bet that trail brought new meaning to pucker factor :ugh:
