Why is it this time of year always sucks for me? If it isn't one thing it's another. I'd be there if I wasn't taking all of my most valued possessions(tools and guns) to Oregon to be seen in who knows how many years.

BTW, your original post said we'll meet at Dutchman Flat (see map), but then there was no map. Now I know where I think Dutchman Flat is, but maybe you are thinking of a slightly different location. Care to add any clarification?
For that matter, will you (or anyone else) be monitoring a CB channel for the inbound guys in case of need for communication?

I was just about to post the same thing!
Dutchman Flats is just past the forest lake trail.. but it seems there is a pretty large area to try to find people in. Will there be a specific place we all gather? are we camping in a group or separate?
How about a sign on the trail to direct us where to camp?

Looking over the attendance list it seems we have a bunch of teachers and very few participants.. Seems like we need some more.
However.. Each of the people I see on the list are high on my 'get to know them better' list, so my personal needs are met with just the few going

Yeah, I'd really like to get some more teachees to go with our plethora of excellent teachers.
Videoing the presentations sounds like a great idea. My Contour camera is not up for that sort of thing, it's a fisheye with a crappy mic. Too bad we don't know anybody with about 50 cameras and the skill to make an awesome video...

There's two camping areas on the left just past the turnoff for Forest Lake. The first one is the base of Mary Ellen Gulch, the second is Dutchman's Flat. Or what I think is DF, anyway
. Go up the rise past Forest Lake, you'll see a huge turnout to the left, that's the Mary Ellen trailhead. Keep down the road a couple beats, there's another cleared area to the left, that's DF. Go down the slope and between the trees and turn right and you've just barely gone too far.I like the area just at the base of the old smelter, on the far side of Dutchmans Flat - lots of room for trucks and tents and whatnot, lots of trees for shade/shelter from rain, and several fire pits. I'll be up there as early as I can motivate myself to be on Friday and I'll try and stake out a generous chunk of turf for us. If worse comes to worst we may need to spread out a bit, but you'll find me there or as near as I can manage. Look for the black 4Runner.

That's what I know as Dutchman's flat as well. I'll have my "Jeep" and a couple kids (daughter that's almost 10 and son that's 14)
