You have a good pic of it at it's worst?

Can't say if this was at it's worst or not, but here is a photo of it from 2003.

It doesn't look as difficult in the picture, but driving up was a pain due to the combination of sand, staggered ledges, and the angle of it. Most of the time you just slide slowly down to the right while trying to climb.

I've always had good luck climbing out of it by hugging the far left side and driving toward the wall. I've seen a lot of carnage at this spot.

I wish it could have been left alone, but the erosion being created from vehicles sliding to the right was getting pretty bad... so I can't argue there.

That's so different I can't even place where it was  I was under the impression that the little drop at 9:40 in video runners first vid was the spot.... It didn't look like much of anything, but I knew they had bypassed the bad spot, and people were talking about a bypass on that when I pulled up. Guess I probably would know more about the trail if I had a CB

That's just around the corner from the Pritchet trail signs... very beginning of the trail. Huge difference, eh?

I'd say, I still can't place where it was... but I did have a huge amount of sun glaring on the mud on my window at the start of the trail. I know at one point near the begining we were on what looked like a newly dozed trail... wonder if that was a road going around it....
Yet another reason I want a refund!

CB was your job, I need to talk to that camera guy about getting a refund from him... he wasn't so much as experienced as he claimed.

Ahhh... you can't place it because you drove right over the top of it. There's not a bypass, they just broke out the rock and filled it in. :)

sigh.... probably

I don't mind so much a bypass being put in, but I don't like it when obstacles get removed.

there was a huge thread about it a couple years ago. I'm pretty sure Herzog archived it so nobody could see it ever again....

Just "Another Price Guy" chiming in here! :D We had a great time on the trail, although the snow made it pretty interesting in some spots  . It was great to meet some new people and to wheel with some old friends. Here are a few random pics from the ride.

I could be wrong, but the bypass on yellow hill is not legal and goes through protected area... Same thing with the bypass on rocker knocker. But my understanding is that BLM is allowing it right now and it may be made true bypasses in the future?

I can not say for sure on yellow hill, but as for rocker knocker ...

Jim, our leader, told us that he was just recently out with the BLM on this trail, and that they put up the fence down below the RK bypass, and that for doing this work, the BLM OK'ed the by-pass.

Assumption (but likely a good one)
I gathered that Jim has spent many personal hours/money in support of BLM/trail development, and as our leader would not have lead us up any illegal bypasses. We had the rigs there that could have made any legal way and helped the others.

Another shot of the initial Pritchett ledge (RIP

That was my new 40's maiden voyage circa 2002... first real trail in the rig :D

Wow! I forgot how much of an impact paving that entrance made. I went down that entrance last weekend, and with the weather and etc, it's going to be ledges again. It's not anywhere near as smooth as it was and some of the ledges are started to get exposed again.

Brett still is afraid of it and it took me 6 years before I was willing to try it in a vehicle of mine.

Whoa, where'd this come from????-_- -_- Just because it took me two hours to get up there so we could go find someone to winch Ross's 'Charger out. That, and I was afraid of sidehill stuff back then......now I just roll through it.

Jim and the rest of Moab Friends-For-Wheelin' have spent many hours working with the BLM on Pritchett over the last 2 years. While both the Rocker Knocker and Yellow Hill bypasses are technically within WSA boundaries, the BLM is currently allowing them because they feel that each is a safer alternative to the current original routes. The Yellow Hill bypass cannot physically be anywhere else. However, in the case of the Rocker Knocker bypass, we recently installed some fencing in order to attempt to discourage any more new routes beyond the current bypass.
