We'll be doing Moab on March 13th with about 6 other toyotas. Thinking of camping overnight on the 12th (Friday), then going crawling on the 13th (Saturday), and driving back Saturday night. I have room for 4 passengers.

Here's the list of trails we're thinking of. I've been to moab plenty of times, but I haven't done any of these trails yet:

- Elephant Hill
- Behind the rocks
- Metal masher
- Cliff hanger
- Flat Iron Mesa
- Golden Spike (LONG trail, takes ALL day)
- Kane Creek
- Poison Spider
- Rose Garden Hill
- Steel Bender

Are any of these trails boring/not worth the drive? Any recommendations for a fun trail or two, or any volunteer trail guides? :D

There will be a good group of toyotas heading down. We'll most likely do Poison Spider, followed by another trail (still undecided).

The (MFFW) are running Steel Bender on the 13th and Hey Joe on the 14th. Both are fairly mild trails. There is an outside chance of a splinter group run to Behind the Rocks on the 13th as well. This is more of a carnage run and include High Dive, Upchuck, Hummer Hill, and White Knuckle (some will go back up)
All of these are Easter Safari pre-runs and will be led by gunners and leaders that will be doing the trails during EJS. They would love to have tag alongs as this makes it more authentic!

Oops, sorry about the https, I meant just http. Gene mentioned that his r/p broke off 3 teeth so he's decided to upgrade to a whole Dynatrac axle. He's going to try and do the swap this weekend and if he gets it done, he'd like to do BTRs on the weekend of the 13th. If we decide to go, we could still all meet at the S Shell station and folks could choose a group.....

Very cool, we might join ya. How many hours does the trail typically take? I'm wondering if we'll be able to squeeze two trails in before the day is over.

ZJ, not trying to be rude at all, but maybe you could start a separate thread for the week you're going. Just to keep the conversations straight. Just a thought.

Both Steelbender and Behind the Rocks are pretty much full day trails unless it is just a small group trying to make good time. I would expect to be back to town somewhere between 2:00 and 4:00.

Are any of you Moab locals heading out the week after? I noticed you had Cliffhanger on the calender but running any others?

I'm sure there will be plenty of people out pre-running EJS trails on both the 20th and 21st. The Moab Half Marathon is on the 20th, and several people with We Be Jeepin will either be running in the race (Surgeryturtle for one) or working on rigs that day (me for one!). We should have a pretty good group for Cliffhanger on Sunday, so come along if you want to!

Yup, gotta run my first half marathon with about 3500 other crazy folks! Cliffhanger will be fun on Sunday though, girls are leading!
As for squeezing two trails in one day, we almost never do that but I guess that's because we can always go out next weekend or whenever, no need to cram. If we get done early, we usually go and have a beverage and talk about the day.

That would be so nice to have moab so close. We're driving down Friday night, camping, and heading home on Saturday night, so we want to cram at least 2 trails in.

We will be going down on Friday and coming home on Sunday (Weather permitting). I will have about 4-5 jeeps with me and not sure what trails we will be running at this point. I will have a 4 door JK on 35's in the group, so nothing to hard. (He won't scratch it) For some of you locals, is there still snow on the ground? Are all the trails mostly open?

I'm running a 4-door tacoma on 35's, so we won't be doing anything too hard either. Let us know which trail you decide. So far, we're thinking of poison spider, behind the rocks, or steelbender. But if there's tons of snow on the ground, then we'll do something simpler.
