This is our semi-annual 4wheeling trip. We're not a club, just some guys that like to get out and do the harder core trails. TIMELINE:
12May: Arrive moab-family means wife/kids and easier? trails like Kane Creek
13May: Fri- family trails in moab 14May: Sat- family trails in moab
15May: Sun- families depart
16-17May: Mon- trails in Moab like Pritchett, behind the rocks, area BFE
18May: Wed- check out from moab, travel to Grand Junction and run billings canyon 19May: Thurs- run 21 road at Grand Junction
20-21May: Fri- run trails in Montrose CO
22May: Sun- departure day but 2 of the crew may stay and run more trails.
So the reason i post this is if someone wants to join us, they can. We're the types that would never leave someone behind or ask them to do what they are not capable of but we're out to run hard stuff.

We do want someone to lead us on the hard Montrose trails since it's been years since we've been there. Any guides out there? Any locals that can join us on 21 road and billings? In the past i've really enjoyed meeting the local 'pros' on those trails.

In the past we've been joined by guys from East coast to Idaho. This year Matt will join us from South Dakota. We don't mind meeting new folks.
happy wheeling!

Hmm,
can't recall the names of the trails. Scratch and dent was one we've done in the past. It was fun. We want to do the hard ones! If we can't find a guide we'll stop in the 4x4 shop in town and get directions. We did that last time and had 2 guys show up to wheel with us :)

Give Terry Hawkins a call at his Alpine Off-Road 4x4 shop in Montrose. 970-240-9000. Terry knows all the Montrose hard core trails well plus all the local wheelers. He could put you in touch with somebody.

We're open to suggestions and haven't decided...it depends on the level of skill of those who join us. With kids though we'll likely pick somewhat short trails.

Die Tryin' and Cactus Ridge are two of my favorite trails there. All of the trails are really in close proximity to each other. There will probably be some locals around to point you in the right direction, it's not hard to find once you know where to go. I think the local 4X4 shop has maps too.

I'd be interested in tagging along for the moab end of things. Post up the trails you're thinking of when you get organized.

Thx for replies. PMs sent. This is what i'm thinking for Moab but chime in if you have other ideas. On these days kids/spouses are present. We like the harder trails but not if the wives get pissed!
Fri-pickle or maybe hells revenge
Sat- Kane Creek
Sun- after spouses leave, pritchett / behind the rocks. Or if we leave that for monday, is there an easier/or family trail you all have in mind?

We were just down there a couple weeks ago. Our 1st time in montrose.
We ran die trying, great trail! We were hoping to hit cactus ridge, but ended
Up doing some trail wrenching instead.
How does cactus does ridge compare? Is it a similar trail?
Boulder canyn also looked awesome.
