We use either HPs, Samsung, or Apple here at work. I'd personally suggest the Dells over them all for one reason or another. The Dell's are the EXACT same LCDs as the Apple's for tons less. Go for the Dell, you'll be glad you did.

EDIT: oh yeah, we also only buy LCDs now as well. You can calibrate and it's close enough, we do have one color guy that uses a nice CRT but otherwise everyone that gets a new screen gets LCD.

The LCD I use here at work (NEC AccuSync LCD92VX), I can tell what you're meaning by motion, as it gets weird looking when I move windows around the screen. My LG thankfully doesn't do that. :)

I'm talking about artifacting and other problems in video that has been scaled (the source isn't the native rez of your monitor) Most people tell me their monitor doesn't do it, until I point it out to them.

Oohhh......I think that I know what you mean. HD movies definately look better on it, but regular DVD's are a little odd at full screen compared to my old 17" CRT

We've been buying the Dell 20" widescreen LCD. They've been just over $300-350 depending on when we've bought them. The specs EXACTLY compare to the Apple Cinema line for about 3 times the price.

2007WFP Wide-Screen Black Flat Panel Monitor, LCD with Height Adjustable Stand
Usually Ships Within 24 Hours
Manufacturer Part# HF730
Dell Part# 320-4688
Max Resolution: 1680 x 1050 / 60 Hz
Image Contrast Ratio: 800:1

Our Mac folk even admit they like them.

E207WFP 20-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor
Usually Ships 1-2 Days
Manufacturer Part# CK630
Dell Part# 320-5123
Max Resolution: 1680 x 1050 / 60 Hz
Image Contrast Ratio: 800:1

That one lists for currently $219, but I have NO idea why it's that much cheaper than the 2007WFP

Funny, did a little research....Cnet USA rates the 207 better, while Cnet Australia rates the 2007 better????
Maybe things look different upside down:p

Want to know the difference? Besides cosmetics, the 2007 has a USB hub, the 207 does not. Same exact LCD, same quality, etc. If you don't need/want the USB hub (it's only two ports), go for the 207 :)

I've heard there are differences according to display quality as well. This was a while back though. I'll see if I can find a source. Something about cheaper parts being used, etc...

hmmm, yeah a quick search turned up the same thing...I've always been told and read that they were identical...guess again :D

one source with some decent info on the two. http://www.digitalcamerainfo.com/bbs/t2140.html

Granted, nothing is factual but it does say the same as you pointed out.

I also have a Dell and find the picture to be great. I can't stand CRTs because of convergence and the flicker (apparently I'm ultra-sensitive and what bugs me other people apparently can't see). A few years ago at work I gave my 20" crt to someone in the computer room so I could get a 17" LCD and was MUCH happier with it.
