Man I hate that Mike guy. If I ever run into him in Moab, I'm going to kick him in the knee cap so he can crawl and be closer to the dirt that he so desperately wants to save.

So as I read the comments I am led to think that Hayduke and Mike were once active the 4x4 community? Am I wrong or do a lot of folks here know them personally?

Well today..... I am.

It's not registered to me though, and anybody that knows how can use it. ;)

*Edit

I own 2 Hummers. It's a tough spot to be in. My opinions are almost automatically discounted by off-roaders and elitist liberals alike. My H2 is the lightning rod, point man of the greenie propaganda machine against 4x4's.

Don't get a lot of support from "our" side either.

I don't believe they have ever been involved in the 4x4 community, however Mike is the owner of an FJ60 and seems to enjoy driving it on backcountry roads and camping. He cleverly leaves out that little tidbit because it would be damaging to his credibility with the enviro's.

I doubt anyone knows him personally, but lets just say I familiarized myself with the opposition.

Ahhh, I see. It's perfectly fine for him, but not for me.

Between the two Trib. articles my head is spinning. It's really sad that a few bad apples have spoiled the image of our sport. Almost everyone I have wheeled with on this forum shares the same ideas of responsible land use and trying to change the image of the sport for the better. My beef with the enviro. groups is that all they do is point fingers and call names without respecting that there is many ways to enjoy the outdoors and that if as Cody pointed out we all start educating people on land management there is no reason we can't continue to do so for a long time.

The sad thing is, that part of me agrees that ATV use is the main culprit. I don't want to draw lines or point fingers, but the majority of off-trial activity I see can be easily identified as ATV.

I'd have to agree with that. There's also some dumbasses that treat their buggies as ATVs. Why they can't stay on/within the trail is beyond me.

I make positive comments all the time, mostly offline. I just don't see the point of getting riled up over the Trib comments. The anti-motorized posters there are extremists even in their own community. The comments they make are so ridiculous.

It's all ridiculous, and pointless agreed. It just seems like whenever you post, it's so pessimistic and negative. Are you as big of a downer in person, or does your rosie and otherwise glowing personality just not translate well through a keyboard?

I guess we both have the same problem.

I'm such a negative nellie ;)

Some of your fun quotes from recent memory...

"weakest eagle scout project ever"

"reading and posting on the tribune forum is useless"

"you should have beergoon day somewhere other than lagoon"

"how come people don't invite me on cool trips"

Shall we play "find scoutabout quatables" today? I'm sure the search function would reveal a gold mine of happy-go-lucky stevisms.

At least when I give people **** I do it in an original and entertaining way. I guess trying to make people laugh is commonly miscontsrued as being negative. My bad there sunshine ;)
