Hello! i haven’t done much wheeling lately, we rock/bor more or less stole my trail time and money last year so I’ve decided to take a break from trying to compete to save my money for my buggy I'm someday going to build. With a major budget in mind, i really want to go four wheeling and crawl fest is in just a few days!:D I was fortunate enough that my good friend JOE happened to have a super clean, real nice, sweet honey, 91 pickup. options include: roll up windows(both windows are broken), one working tail light, real nice headlights, no power steering, 5 speed, 22re, 4runner roll bar!:greg:, bench seat, tinted rear window, 32 inch cooper mud terrains, cd player!! bobbed bed, 3 spare cv axles, welded rear diff, cherry red paint job, chrome rims, full size spare tire

it had been sitting a while with the windows open but the interior was surprisingly nice!

It had a horrible rod knock but i know how well he takes care of his cars so it was an easy decision for me!

i traded my MG-B straight across for it!
i took it right to my garage to immediately start work on it!
i took the doors off, added power steering.... my girlfriend painted hello kitty on the side??

the motor had plenty of power but that rod knock sound just wasn’t doing it for me, I’m not about to spend a ton of money on this like i said before. i found out i could get new piston bearings from check for only 30 bucks!!!:eek: so i tore out the ifs to get to the crank shaft!

Once apart i found that 2 bearings were spun and 2 looked ok. i replaced them all with new bearings and away i went!!

for about 30 minutes and the knock came back... lucky for me I’ve got plenty of 90w! and for the future one of my good friends told me they know a place that will re finish my crankshaft and give me perfect fit bearings for a good price if i bring it to them.... i will do that after crawl fest. for now, the knock is considerably better than it was, and the truck came with a sweet cd player to drown out the noise(i think that was Tacoma’s idea.. can’t take credit for that.. maybe Stratton?)

i forgot to mention that while the front diff was out we welded the spider gears for MORE traction!!:D

i also took the dual cases and marlin cross member/skid plate out of my 4runner and put them in for better gearing. The skid plat helps a ton with ground clearance! after installing the dual cases, the bench seat didn’t fit any more, so it had to be replaced with some old 4runner seats i had kicking around. this was depressing because i really liked the idea of being about to have 3 people ride along at crawl fest.....

but we made it work!!!!:greg:

here is a test run

will the motor blow in st George? or will i be able to conquer some of the hardest trails in Utah? only time will tell:D

my future plans are to pretty much leave it how it sits other than fix the rod knock for real. and I’d like to compete in delta, stock class of course. i also plan to take it to jeep safari this year and see what kind of work i can do on the helldorado waterfall, as well as suicide hill, it would be a cool claim to have the least built rig to may either of those obstacles. it may sound crazy but i really think that with as low cog as it has and with being bobbed i think it’s possible with some serious "love" if you know what i mean:D
here are a few more older videos for your entertainment:D

Hahaha... Too funny, anyway I'll be back doing some last minute touches tonight I'll take some pictures while I'm at it. I've been seriously thinking about swapping my beadlocks off my runner onto it, think it's worth it?

Also it has also made it up escalator and devils gate, but I can't find the video so I guess it doesn't count? I'll keep looking :) keep in mind all the previous obstacles were done with an open front diff..

Knowing your heavy right foot, I'd leave the current tires on there. 35" bald tires on beadlocks may be a bit much for the CV's.. But, a little sawzall action and your there.. Sure would look badass. :)
