This weekend will be the deciding factor of delta, I'll be there no matter what, it's just a matter of what truck. I was pretty set on using my 4runner this year but I really thinkwith a little work this truck could be a great contender, me and Joe have some wild ideas to make the IFS stronger to support 35s, it already has a better departure angle than my 4runner, and legally I could stretch the front out 3 inches, that would give me a better approach angle. I strongly think that when it comes to competing the flex of a solid axle is extremely over rated compared to low COG and ground clearance. I would also be fairly simple to cut the floor out and raise the drivtrain up and push the motor back... We shall see, all of these mods are cheap and that's what this truck is about, cheap, fun and capable, if delta works good I might be doing a couple we rock events in it, who knows?

i like the underdog idea of using this truck to compete. A low center of gravity and ground clearance are much more important than axle flex, i say go for it if it works than great if it doesnt then oh well go back to the 4runner

Here's a shot of the new and improved seating

The shifter arrangement (note that I removed my rear driveline disconnect, I figure the fewer things to blow up the Ifs, the better)

i also took the dual cases and marlin cross member/skid plate out of my 4runner and put them in for better gearing. The skid plat helps a ton with ground clearance! after installing the dual cases, the bench seat didn’t fit any more, so it had to be replaced with some old 4runner seats i had kicking around. this was depressing because i really liked the idea of being about to have 3 people ride along at crawl fest.....

but we made it work!!!!:greg:

Just curious, do you have plans for that bench seat? How much more room is needed to clear the back shifter? Thanks and I wish I was able to make it to St George to see it in action.

well the bad news is the truck only ran for one day, the good news is that it made it through most of nasty half, and took some pretty sweet jumps in the sand dunes!

There is a video of some of the action:)

Tacoma: the dimensions are 3 7/8 inch by 7/8 inch

Today I got all the 7m wiring pulled out of the 4runner and the motor is ready to be pulled I just need to go get my engine hoist. I'm debating on swapping my dash from my runner into the pick up. This will make it so I don't have to rewire the motor and give me the sr5 dash with better gauges and tilt steering column.

After pulling the 91 dash completely out and trying to fit the 85 dash in I've come to the conclusion that without some serious fab work, the 85 dash just isn't going to work right, but the good news is that I got most of the wiring work done last night and the dash almost back together. Now all I need to do is pull the 22re out and the truck will be ready for my 7m. The motor is just going to need a custom oil pan and a oil pick up tube. Superrunner has both of these already made from an old project. I'm going to pick those up from him soon. I'd like to get this truck running and registered before koh, in hope that I can drive it there(save some serious $$ on towing) does anyone have a windshield? Or tail lights?
