Hey everyone My Wife and I finally both have nice full suspension MTB Bikes:D and were looking for trails up here in northern utah.
I wanted to get your guys imput on what are some good trails. I love down hill and the wife likes it too (though she is still scared of steep drops and walks her bike down) what are some good trails that have a good mix of down hill drops and jumps and normal single/double track thanks:)

check utahmountainbiking.com

There are a few guys working on a freeride trail in Ogden. It's got a few berms and tabletops. I haven't ridden it yet, but I have been following the thread. Keep us posted if you do find some great trails up there. The only trails I know well are here in utah valley. I've yet to find a great singletrack that's flowy and fun. I do miss my california trails.

I will check the site out steve thanks. As for trails up here the only ones i have ridden are the east mt trails i forget the names but they have mostly fast single track with a drop or too if you look hard. We rode the bear claw poppy trail in st george area that was the sweetest trail ever. My Favorite part was the "three fingers of death" they are some seriously fun drops and very steep and fast but manageable.
Im looking for sweet trails like that. we also rode the trails out at anelope island those were fun after you bike up 6 miles of up hill sand and almost kill your self:greg::greg:

its 18 bucks per person, but totally worth it

My friends and I used to drive up to the top of old ward and shoot down the single track then come onto the 4x4 trail and follow it to the bottom, there used to be a bad a$$ mtn bike trail that went down into the canyon on the right side of the B if your looking at the B from the bottom of the hill, but its all washed out now

Utahmountainbiking.com is a great resource, I would also recommend checking out Snowbasin. I did a few races there last year that were a blast. I live right below the Mueller Park trail in Bountiful, and ride it multiple times a week during the summer. The downhill on it isn't technical and you have to bike 7 miles uphill to get there but it is in my opinion one of the best singletracks in Utah and I have biked a lot of them. It can get really busy with hikers and won't be clear from snow for a few more months. But if I were to recommend one trail it would be the bobsled up in the avenues in SLC. It combines a good mix of wide sweeping berms with drops, ladders, and even old cars you can jump. There has been a lot of renovation on the trail in the last few year so there is a lot of lines you can take.

What bikes do you and your wife have?

i have a 2006 kona stinky that was my wifes but when i bought the 2003 BigHit it ended up fiting her better. The stinky has the old style Bomber forks with no real adjustments i need to replace it, DHX fox 3.0 shock, cheap double wall sunrim ditch witch wheels, maxxis minion DHR tires, truvativ down hill crank and bash ring, 32 tooth front gear, kore platform pedals and hayes 9 8inch hydros front and rear. The Big hit has the Mozo 5.5 X fork just rebuilt it but want to replace it, 4 way swinger mantiou coil shock in the rear, ditch witch sun rims, hayes mechanical 8 inch discs and a truvativ crank and needs a bash ring different seat and hydro brakes

I used to spend hundreds of hours per year building and maintaining trails here, but became discouraged after a few years of backbreaking labor. When you only have ten feet of vertical gain/drop for ten miles of trail, it starts to seem a bit ridiculous.
I broke my collarbone freeriding in Tennesee, at Coal Creek OHV area, AKA Windrock, and haven't done much since. Driving twelve hours to ride got old, and I was discouraged by the local riding. I was hit by a car riding a road bike, nobody cared, nobody stopped. I hung up my freeride bikes, and gained twenty pounds within months. Depressing. My cure? Move to Utah. :) Plan is almost complete.

I have a fleet of bikes, Santa Cruz, Cove, Eastern (a prototype), Haro, K2, and others.
I used to ride a trials bike, a Brisa B26D that I bought from their sponsored rider, but gave it up after a series of painful back injuries from bad drops/falls/other buggerups. Had to admit I wasn't 15 anymore. Heh! I was fourth place in a trials comp in Flint, Michigan, and that was huge fun. But, I like flowy, jumpy stuff anymore. I also much prefer chair lifts or truck beds over pedaling back up. Just how it is.
Looking forward to riding, maybe with some of you. :)

The B in Bountiful area:

The Ward Canyon Trail is just the bottom part of the fun trail. It starts higher up on the Buckland Ridge Trail. If you had two vehicles you could leave one at the top and ride down and then go back up to retrieve the other vehicle. Most of he time I shut off my WR and coast Buckland. You can coast most of the way and its fun.

Bobsled flows better than most of the other trails around here. However, I think that the best network of trails is at Deer Valley. I think a pass is $30 for a day, or around $250 for a seasons? You can get a lot of runs in though in a day and they maintain their trails beautifully.

Sounds like a plan, as soon as the snow melts we will have to hit the trail. I was talking to Steve about trying out the Bobsled last week.

I would also recommend Deer Valley I went there a few times last year, they have something for everyone.
