A while ago someone put that Henderson Wheel on 3rd was a good place to get mud flaps, is this still true?

Anyone have any good designs for quick attach/release setups?

Thanks,

Wade

I was looking at suv's setup the other day on his 'runner, pretty damn cool. Maybe he'll post up some pics.

I called Henderson a few weeks ago. Seems like they said about $35.00 for a truck mud flap. I got one from Napa for about $8.00 that I cut in half.

Wade, if you are looking for ideas about a DD rig there are LOTS of options. If you just need them to pass inspection, I'd get the cheap ones from NAPA and drill 3 holes, use zip ties to attatch them, and cut them off your rig as soon as you have your official paperwork! That's what I did.

Yeah but if you are driving on the road a cop will give you a ticket. it is stupid to do everything to pass saftey one day and cut it off the next. just come up with a creative solution to do both like suv's set up he can take them off at the trail and put them on for the road.

I have driven this rig daily for 8 years and have never been pulled over for anything! And it has NEVER had mud flaps. I'm sure the cops could find something else to use as an excuse to pull me over.......no lic. plate light, lic plate is hard to see because of the spare tire, taillights are about 10% obscured by the bumper, no doors(yes that is another STUPID Utah law).
It sounds to me like Olly got a little excited with the sawsall and that is the reason why he has had trouble. If you build a trailer rig (and yes I have one) then keep it off the road. I am talking about my DD that has about 65-70% of the tire exposed from the rear. Have you looked around at other trucks/4wds that are driving around town? Make a mental note of how many of them have more than 50% of their tire exposed! Now what is so retarded about not wanting mud flaps on my truck when 3/4 of the other rigs don't have them either??? I can build several different removeable versions so that isn't the point.

Wade, If you would like to talk about some different options let me know, I would be happy to help you out with making them.

i ended up getting one mud flap from Sapp Bros (California and 215) for 10 bucks. I cut the thing in quarters and attached it to some angle iron with bolts. I attached them to the XJ using some cotter pins and can get them off in seconds and on in about a minute.

When I was at Mepco the other day I saw the one's that they sell there. They look good but I am sure I can fab my own for less then $35 (I still need some for my TJ, but safety inspection isn't due until next spring so I'm not in a huge rush).

Thanks for the input.

Wade
