Mushy spuds

If someone were to have some spuds in the fridge. And if said spuds were a little soft. Could that person still boil the potato and mash it? And would the resulting mash taste okay?

You keep potatos in the fridge? That might be why they're mushy...keep them in a cool (not cold) dry, dark place ideally.

I wouldn't chance it with the taters you have...they aren't expensive enough to worry about. (currently $.99 for a 5 lb bag at Ream's)

Not usually. I just found some (not sure how long they have been there:eek: ) and was going to use them if they were going to be okay.

I will skip the starch. Not worth the drive to the store.

Trying to use up the perishables before we hit the road to EJS.

I wouldn't eat mushy spuds, for the aforementioned reasons that Carl.. mentioned afore. :)

In NY, we kept a huge bag of them in the cellar stairway. They grew eyes but never went soft.

My house lacks the her to fore mentioned stairs and the way that would contain them. A cellar that one would be transported to through that way is also lacking. And due to the radiant heat in the floor I lack many cold areas in my humble abode.
