Music Review: God Help the Girl

God Help the Girl is a story, but it is also a band... and an album. And it will also be a movie.
Sound odd? Yeah, I thought so too. But I heard the song Musician, Please Take Heed on the radio and was intrigued. So I gave the whole album a spin. It's a fascinating cross section of music that pulls from as varied genres as coffee shop/beatnik, musical scores from the golden age of cinema, 70's ballads, jazz, and rock. But all in all, it is just a damn good album. And the lead female vocals by Catherine Ireton are, well, heavenly.
If you are brave, I'd definitely give this album a listen.

EDIT: I see they have a song, "Howard Jones Is My Mozart". So this is either going to be hipster sh*t, or some decent stuff. I'm excited to hear some.

So I'm going through the YouTubed stuff.. I couldn't listen to this all the time-- I dont' think, anyway.. -- but it's good, I like it. It's pleasant and kind of refreshing, like sherbet, or a cool glass of lemonade. My only criticism so far is that it might be just a wee bit on the light side-- but I have only listened to like 4 songs so far.

I like the concept, too.

I listened to 2-3 songs earlier today, up until I had to do actual work..

From what I heard, I like them. I agree with Tacoma that it's not something I would listen to much, but I certainly would have on my ipod, and probably be pleasantly pleased when they showed up on 'random'. I usually turn over all sorts of different sounds to Jacey since she uses loads of different types of music for her dance classes.

The girl's voice is awesome, I approve of their gear, and the sound is refreshing. B+ for me. Nothing less than an A- in my book goes on a playlist.
