my axle shaft's wont go in all the way??

I took my rearend out cus i broke my spider gears,
and wile i was at it i desided to junk my drums cus they where just that.
it would have cost me over $150 to replace it all and would still suck.

so i bought my buddy's rear disc brake set up for $50 and im into it $70 now.
I got eveything matched up and cleaned up but my shafts wont go in all the way? (no interfearence from the brake set up)
it's like my race pushed out but it's in all the way and the left side has the race already on the bearing and it's doing the same thing?
the 3rd member is still out, so im just confused why they wont go in all the way
they have alway's just bolted right up till now....and there is nothing in the way that i can see.
any idea's? ill post up some pic's of what im talking about..

The gap is where the brake backing plate would normally go. You need a spacer to fill the gap. Some people cut the center out of the backing plate and put that in or they install spacers that come with most disc kits.

The center of the drum brake backing plate is less than 1/8" thick though...

I slid the axle shafts into the semi float 60 that I am working on under my current project to check wheel clearances and it has a gap just like that. I don't have the backing plate on the axle and for my axle that is the only difference from when I got the axle complete. The carrier also isn't in the axle so I know nothing in the center is holding it out.

besides's i cant feal it going down the road so who care's.
