My brothers 4runner sas

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm trying to help you diagnose the issue. I'm sure you've already tried this, but it's worth mentioning anyway.

Are you sure it's the front that's binding and not the rear axle? Try raising the front axle and putting it on jackstands so the wheels are in the air. Then spin each wheel and see which one is causing the problem. Are both wheels binding, or just one? Did you rebuild the front axle, or just swap an entire axle in there? I'm guessing you've got a busted birf that's making it bind up. Or maybe your third member has some metal chunks in it from some broken teeth on the ring or pinion. my money is on the broken birfield. What did that axle come off of? A stock truck, or a lifted truck?

from what i got out of it was it was on a stock truck then boughten and built for a crawler and never was ran. and i did find out what one it is that is messing up. its the right front and thats when i caught the problem is when it was on jacks as said in the first one. i have no problem with anything thats said im on here to hear everyones ideas. so dont worry about it:)
thanks for the pointers i will look into it and let you know. thanks alot really it helps

I'm guessing it's your birf then, if it's only doing it on one side. Pretty easy to remove the birf. Check it for cracks or broken chunks.

have you taken apart a front toyota axle before? If not, look here:

you want the 1985 front axle FSM. It describes everything you need to do. Personally, I think it's worth rebuilding the knuckle while you're in there, even if it's not necessary (that's just me being anal and making sure everything is perfect before it goes back in.)

I've got a couple spare birfs. I'll sell ya one for $30 if you don't have a spare.

if its got a broken stock birf, why replace it with a used stock birf thats just gonna break. i broke my stock birfs on my first run. spend the money and atleast get the 27 spine trail gear better than stock birfs. or if money isnt a big deal, tg dirty 30's full 4340 chromoly shafts/bifs will do the trick.
27 spline better than stock.

Glad to hear it was an easy fix. We've all been there and overlooked some simple little thing that turned out to be a problem.

I just have a question about a brake line. Can I run one made of steel on the frame next to the exhaust? It's about 8 to 10 inchs away from the frame. Thanks in advance

If you're worried, you could install a heat shield in between the two, but I don't think you'll have any issues; that's pretty far away.

The aluminum ramp at miller is way steeper than most RTI ramps. 60" sounds good to me! I wish I could get that much articulation in my rig. Now he has no excuse for not making the tough obstacles. :p

I like that too. I'm sure my brother will too:). That's with 109 in wheel base. Also I broke my drag link doing the RTI ramp on the frame so I wasn't able to finish the cruiserfest:( so now im going to lift the truck it a little more and lower the drag link on the right side
