My diff doesn't fit???

SO I went to put my other 3rd member in my toyota front axle last night and it doesn't fit. It looks like it's hanging up on the ring gear. I think I can just take my grinder and open it up a little. It has 5.29 gears, is this a common problem? It looks like it would be easy to fix, just curious if anyone had run into this problem? It's an 81 front housing, not sure what year the 3rd came out of.
Thanks

I had a harder time putting my front 3rd in but that was a V6 diff in a 4cyl housing but just took a little pushing and, it slid in. I've heard before that some grinding was need. But I didn't have to do any?

I didn't mean to do that!

I have never had one go in clean, if you can shift (twist) whatever you call it, side to side while sliding it in. You can grind it, but I could never bring myself to do it. They fit, they are just a pain.

Well, I got it in. Just took a little work with the grinder, I only took off 1/16 of an inch on the top where it's already notched for the ring gear, and it slid right in.
