Well, I sold my belived Range Rover P38 a few months ago. And I've been having Land Rover withdrawals ever since. So I found this "Bosch" Disco 2 for $3100 in immaculate condition. It has 146K miles but had the engine replaced about 30K miles ago. It runs superbly.

Without further ado I introduce: Claudia, and she is a sexy beast.

Specs:

2000 Land Rover Discovery Series II
SE7
ACE
CDL (just need to add the linkage off my 1987 RRC parts truck)
255/55/18
Harmon Kardon Sound

Current MODS:

OME751
OME781 Rear Springs
Pioneer Head Unit

Future Plans:

265/65/18's
Rear Locker
10K Superwinch (already have it in the garage laying around)
Lighting
Front Tube style winch bumper
Rear Bumper
Diff Guards
Front Driveshaft upgrade
Cobra CB Radio (laying around in the garage)
Safari Guard Roof Rack
Black out the hood

I got her 2 days ago, here is what she looked like. Someone had removed the rear air suspension and put OME781's in the rear and left the stock springs up front. Looked dumb, but I had a set of OME751's in the garage collecting dust, so it was a bonus even if it looked stupid.

And last night not even 24 hours after I got her, I installed the front springs. It took all of about 2 hours. Pretty easy, although it was still 90 degrees in the garage.

We have a 2000 that may come up for sale soon, could be a good spare parts rigs if it keeps pissing me off. Dealing with the 3 amigos issue currently and so far it's not the shuttle valve. It actually looks almost identical to your new one.

Congrats on Claudia. :D

Okay. So this started out as a simple, I'll just install my CB for fun.

And ended up being, hey you know that junked out 1987 RRC sitting over there with the CDL linkage just waiting to be used on your D2!

Here was the victim

All hooked up, tested and functioning correctly. Don't forget to trim your Transfer-case hole in the plate so you can shift the CDL on.

Oh, yeah and I almost forgot the reason I started this whole thing. The CB

Just shoved my Cobra CB box under the console and wired it into the cigarette lighter wiring. That way I'll never leave it on to drain the battery.

All back together, just need the proper shifter handle and sticker

Well so far I haven't done much. The previous owner did a crap job of painting the wheels. It was all peeling off. So I stripped them and painted then something different

All I ever see are black and silver wheels. I found a cool color. Rustoleum Hammered Dark Bronze.

Yes. We had lunch there. We went up Ward Canyon in my D2. Did great. Crawled up and over everything. Had a lot of fun. But I need some taller stronger tires. I ripped some aluminum off the wheels. Nothing horrible but a larger side wall would have saved the wheels

How's that washed out portion on Old Ward these days?

We got through everything. There are a lot of places on the road that are tight.

The tall guy in the photo I had not seen in 17 years. 3 mission buddies 17 years later. All bearded up.

We didn't take any pictures. We were to busy talking. . Had a blast though. I want to go back up already. This Disco is one of the funnest rigs I've had off road yet. Pretty amazing what it'll do with a small lift traction control and center diff lock

Haha, "bearded up" - that should be in the dictionary. "A phenomenon afflicting all missionaries post-mission, though specific timeframe is not documented."

Bummer you can't get up before baby comes. I'd love an evening ride.

I want to go up again. If I do, I'll let you know...

My wife is scheduled for a c-section on the 12th. But today it looks kind of like the baby has dropped. I'd rather it just comes out naturally, but you never know. 3 kids previous, and only one came out the right way, and it wasn't pretty.

I found some 16" wheels I plan on picking up this week if I have time. These 18" wheels will just be used on the highway and around town.

Well, I've been slammed with work for awhile and don't see an end in sight. But I've been able to manage a few "upgrades" or maintenance.

I was getting a misfire code on multiple cylinders.

I bought some NGK plugs and some Bosch Spark plug wires. The old plugs obviously had not been changed in forever. They were in a horrible state. The plug wires broke apart when I removed them from the spark plugs. So after a quick tune-up it idles really nice and smooth now. It seems to have a little more power as well.

I changed the oil Saturday night. I went to Rotella T6 (full synthetic) 5w-40. I've used it in all my Land Rovers and European cars. It made the lifters go silent. And by the next oil change all the crap should be cleaned out of the engine.

I also have the following projects to finish up:

  • Shuttle valve in the ABS is messed up. I found an old write up to fix it for the cost of a can of DOT 4 brake fluid. Since I already have wiring and a solder gun lying around, it won't cost anything really. Just need a couple hours to do it.
  • My 16" wheels. I have painted two black so far. 2 more to go.

  • I can't decide between 265/75/16 or 235/85/16 load range E tires.
  • I'll be picking up an ARB front bumper this week or next for it from Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters.
  • Wire up my CB antenna once I install the bumper and Winch

Tested the flex out with the new shocks.

Also fixed my abs with the scanner I bought. There was an intermittent wheel speed sensor fault. I cleared it and it hasn't come back yet. If it shows up again I'll buy a wheel speed sensor.
