If you go older body style anything newer a 90. They got rid of the Renix starting in 91.

I am 6'7" and I have had a 98 and now a 94 and I fit fine. I just recline the seat back until I am comfortable. The 94 does seem to have some more room with a more open dash.

FJ62's rock, but make sure you drive one before your set one it being an option for you. They are tractors much like any earlier Toyota however with the auto (robust as they are) they have an even more anemic feel to them. Some are right at home with them and learn to love the way they ride and drive, others start thinking V8 swap from the get go and if your going to tear out the heart and soul of a Cruiser in favor of a costly V8 swap, you might as well do it to a clean bodied Cruiser that will be something you want to keep down the road :D

That's a good point, Kurt; tractor of a truck it is. One of the main reasons that I love my 62 is because it feels like a newer, slightly refined version of my '74 FJ55. It rides similar, feels similar, smells similar, sounds similar, but has slightly more power, more comfort (a lot), not as metal on metal clanky (think lack of weather stripping, etc), has AC, power doors/locks, and is best looking US available cruiser IMO.

ok, so I think I'm aiming at an XJ. The main reason for this is that there are so so many cheap build parts on ksl. I also am thinking that I want to build a go-fast-ish rig that can also crawl. I know that it takes $$$$ to build a rig that can do both really well, so I'm aiming for doing both ok. Here's what I'm thinking for a budget build:

D30 front w/ 4"ish long arm lift, upgraded steering, good remote resi shocks, trussed, geared, soft locker, rims w/ backspacing for wider stance
D44 rear w/ go-fast leaves. Not sure what brand.
tube prerunner style but beefy bumpers and sliders w/ swing away tire carrier on rear bumper
4 to 1 in case
lots of unibody bracing
internal cage
cool lighting
prerunner front fenders and bushwacker rears

just brainstorming for now...a lot will be based off of what is cheap on ksl.

of course, the 4runner has to sell first!

ZJ... 4 doors, niceties, V8 options. Front suspension mostly the same as the XJ. A bit more rear seat leg room... I mention V8 since you mentioned go-fast.
