My worst windshield crack

I was going through some old family slides and ran into this picture that shows the worst windshield crack that I have ever had. We were headed to Yuba along the old Nephi death strip outside of Levan at night when a semi truck picked up a spoked caddy hubcap and launched it into my widow. I had the trailer on back, the wife and two daughters up front and instantly I couldn't see where I was going. The semis kept on whipping on past me and people behind me were honking because I was going too slow for them. After I found a spot to pull over I kicked the windshield out of the way so I could see to drive. I had glass cuts on my arms, glass in my mouth, and my daughter had a car seat full of glass but no cuts. We were very lucky because the hubcap came in like a frisbee edge on but hit the roof line which stopped it. If it had been an inch lower I would have taken a hit to the head. I kept the hubcap for a momento.

I had glass cuts on my arms, glass in my mouth,

Sounds like a typical day at the office. Thats a good one. The worst I have seen was a guy that was driving his brand new superduty home from the dealership and a semi kicked up a brake shoe sending it through the windshield taking out most of his dash, lucky for him it was in the passenger seat.

the worst i have seen was an england driver had a great horned owl come threw the wind shield of his truck and lived it scratched the hell out of him

I had an owl hit the windshield of my scrambler in Spanish Fork canyon coming home late from Moab last fall. It hit really hard and I was sure there was going to be damage to the windshield frame or glass but all there was was a big dust spot where it hit.

My dad used to tell stories about people in Alaska who hit Moose with their cars.

The Moose didn't so much "go through the windshield" as it "crushed the top of the car."

Nothing to do with your hubcap story, but it involves ultimately broken windshields . . .
