you are also a 4 cyl, that makes a huge difference...when I had my 4 cyl with 35s I had 5.89s and liked how it felt, it was in a YJ though.

nope, I have never ran the doubler setup, its new to me...that was with a stock 231 (it had the AA SYE, but was otherwise stock)...

I ran 4.56's in my automatic 2001 xj with 33" mt/rs, and it was PERFECT. My buddy has 4.88's in his TJ with 5spd and 35s and that's sweet. My other friend is running 5.38's in his xj with 37's and a 5spd, i LOVE that set up. IF you're going to do 35's, go right to the 4.88's you wont regret it...

Also take a look here http://www.bgsoflex.com/rpmmph.html, i'm a math geek and like playing with numbers :D You can also check your numbers here http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/bible/index.html#T, and another good point of reference is http://www.4wheelparts.com/Tirel_gear_ratio.asp.

I believe with the aw-4 tranny, 35's and 4.88's you're going to be running around 2600 rpms at 70. Remember that engine will bog down on the highway at anything under 2500rpms. You want to shoot for a crusing rpm around 2500-2800 depending on what you drive at. Out here i run at 75-80 all day long, but where you live you may only run 65-70, so you can go with a lower gear and be ok. You won't regret going lower on the axle gear. Just my $.02 for what it's worth.
